What would life be like if we spent more time doing what we loved?

In the summer of 2021, my 7 year-old son asked if we could bake a cake together. It was my first time making a cake from scratch, my first time making a layered cake, and my first time attempting any kind of decoration beyond plopping on some canned frosting. When all was said and done (roughly 8 hours later!) the cake was delicious, but... pretty ugly. Not to be deterred, we decided to make another cake. And another. And another. Pretty soon my friends, neighbors, and husband's co-workers were swimming in cake and Black Cat Baking was born.

Over time, as I got more orders and things started getting busy, I reached a point where I had to make some choices about the direction Black Cat Baking would take. It was at that time that I decided to take a step away from cakes and cupcakes and focus on custom decorated sugar cookies. I love the challenge and artistry involved in every order I take and hope it shows in each and every set of cookies.

Being able to do something I enjoy so much while bringing a smile to someone's face has been more fulfilling than I would have imagined. I love the process of designing and creating a custom treat that exceeds expectations and will make an occasion even more special.

Treats have no purpose other than joy, and I hope mine can serve their purpose well.
